ABOUT THE WEDDING

This 110‑guest wedding quickly became the standout DJ event of the year. The couple’s request was to design a soundtrack that captured the spirit of their 2000s high school dances while still keeping older guests, from parents to family friends, engaged and on the dance floor.

The crowd locked in early, and from that point on, it felt impossible to miss; every track landed, and the dance floor stayed packed. Some of the best moments were the intergenerational dancing—seeing every age group moving together. During “Promiscuous Girl,” watching the guys on the second floor sing to the bride became a core memory. Later, as soon as “Sexy Chick” dropped, the room went full send, lifting the father of the bride, then the bride and groom into the air as the music peaked.

On Shoulders

We kicked things off with some old school jams from the ’70s and ’80s to get everyone involved. After about 20 minutes, I felt we could get more energy out of the crowd. Reading the room I dropped some 2000s hip-hop and pop bangers, and that’s when the dance floor really started to move. Guests surrounded the father of the bride as they lifted him high above the crowd, laughter and music blending into one unforgettable moment.

Inter-
generational

Every celebration should bring people together on the dance floor. Dancing is not for just the young it is for everyone. For me, that means reading the crowd, feeling the timing, and choosing the songs that speak to everyone in the room. Because I chose to stick to older music in the beginning I knew I would have the older generations on the floor. The reward? Those unforgettable surprises, like watching Grandma break it down to Usher with the biggest smile in the room.

Setting the Tone

Your DJ sets the tone for your dance floor. Their energy sets the pulse of the night. If they’re not feeling every song, the crowd will sense it. That’s why I’m always right there in it singing, dancing, and channeling the same energy your guests bring to every beat. When the crowd started belting out “Play That Funky Music,” it was the perfect setup to slide into “Hot in Herre”.

Song Request

Requests from my couples are more than just songs, they’re moments that matter. The bride’s brother’s favorite track is YMCA, and because of his Autism, it’s the only one he loves to dance to. Before playing it, I made sure to hype it up so everyone was fully tuned in and celebrating with him. The energy in the room was incredible. I’m always scanning the room for subtle cues. When the bride gave me the look, it was time to move to the next track. The next clip captures how I transitioned from that heartfelt moment into a high-energy song that kept the dance floor moving.

Riding High

Some weddings have a rhythm that just keeps building, moment after moment, like a song that never loses momentum. This was one of those nights. Even when the guests lifted the bride and groom above the crowd, the energy didn’t peak, it soared. I am sure this is going to be a core memory for the couple, I know it was for me. By the end of the night all the guests were chanting one more song.

Rock that Crowd

Ever wonder what I am doing behind the DJ decks. I am cooking up transitions to keep your guests dancing. It is more than just pushing buttons. I spend hours researching and practicing to find the best songs to transition and the experience to know which track will build the energy of the night. Listen to the crowd after I drop "Beauty and the Beat", their voices say it all. This is an unfiltered glimpse into the atmosphere your wedding could have when every beat connects.
